TRAUMATOLOGY AND FRENCH PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL. WHAT IS IT?

A retrospective study on two consecutive seasons has just been published by Drs M. Feller, P. Kuentz and E. Orhant officiating respectively at the CHU Strasbourg, As Monaco FC and the French Football Federation.

This important work of collecting and analyzing data aims to highlight the mechanisms, the nature and the location of all the injuries caused during league1 and league2 championships in France and this as well during a match. ‘in training.

This is the second French study on the subject (the first one was conducted in 2004 on the initiative of Professor Rochcongar), this time on the adult male first teams of 17 French clubs.

As a result, the competitions cause more injuries than the training, with a character of increased severity. Muscle injuries remain in the limelight with a peak of localization in the thigh (hamstrings).

Establishing the medical identity of the French professional football player remains the goal to achieve through the optimal use of the software available to all league 1 and league 2 clubs.
